Tell your justice story
From Guinevere, age 10, in Schenectady, NY:
My mom and I put up a little free library last April and joined Instagram to spread the word. We noticed that most of the books left in our library were about mainly white characters. Inspired by Sarah Kamya on Instagram, we decided to make a difference. We made a Wishlist with books about different cultures, people, places, including diverse authors and experiences. We posted the link on our LFL instagram page. We collected over 130 books and distributed to over 41 local little free libraries so everyone could have access to diverse books.
From McKenzie, age 14, in Charleston, SC:
This is a continuation to my other story. I know what it is like to bullied and racial prejudice by African American people in my school. Being Black myself, I was normally ridiculed for not being Black enough or fitting into a Black stereotype. I was deemed an "oreo," a Black person with a white personality. I didn't curse or was loud as the other kids, and I didn't listen to rap or hip hop. And I didn't say the n-word like most Black kids, and to the majority of those kids. I wasn't Black. But I have learned to fit in with other people of my own age, similar hobbies, and of all races.
